Schneider Electric won the order for the extension of the Algiers Central Control Office.

Schneider Electric signed a contract with Sonelgaz, an Algerian public corporation responsible for electrical power distribution, for the extension of the Algiers Central Control Office.

For this order, Sonelgaz entrusted the Schneider Electric - Efacec Portugal consortium.

This project is part of the program launched by Sonelgaz to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the region of Algiers. It includes modernisation of Medium Voltage distribution networks and the associated remote control system.

This project is made complex by the large number of micro-sites to be treated simultaneously.

Schneider Electric will be responsible for overall management and supplies and will install the electrical equipment, including the rehabilitation of 450 substations equipped with 24 kV and 36 kV SM6, for instance more than 1300 cubicles manufactured by Schneider Electric Algeria,

The close co-operation between the teams of Schneider Electric France and Schneider Electric Algeria, allowed this contract to be signed in June 2005 in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Mines of Algeria, following a year of technical and sales negotiations

Final acceptance is scheduled for September 2006.
