One of France's leading racecourses outfits itself with a building management system, using Schneider Electric products

The Saint-Cloud racecourse covers 185 acres. The building management system installed uses Telemecanique brand products. Schneider Electric also supplied the Merlin Gerin electrical distribution equipment.

The Saint-Cloud racecourse presents several distinctive features. Many outside service providers and security guards have access to the site, and the equipment is spread over a very wide area. These two characteristics influenced the decision to implement a building management system (BMS) and to select Schneider Electric France for the solution implemented.

          Answer to diversified needs
The BMS covers the power supplies and  monitoring of sensitive equipment: UPS, air conditioning, TV control room, restaurant cold rooms, lifts, etc. It centralizes the lighting controls for the public reception and parking areas, the electrical heating and energy consumption. The system manages nearly 600 technical alarms (lifts, sewage pumps, electrical failures, etc.).

Jean-Marie Dunas, electricity services manager at the Saint-Cloud and Maisons Laffite racecourses sees the difference: “Today we have a perfectly controlled and scalable facility. The centralized control from the supervision station provides a noticeable time savings on such a sprawling site and les operators work comfortably, even with a limited team.”

This solution offers the advantage of being more flexible than a conventional BMS by virtue of its openness to third party products.
In the near future, the system will also cover the pumping station for watering, the main heating plant and the metering stations for the high voltage substations.
