Low and medium voltage equipment for the new Moroccan port

Construction is going full blast at 13 km from Spain: The future Tangier port will stimulate the economy in Northern Morocco.

Schneider Electric Morocco has just won a major order to supply low and medium voltage products and equipment, related to construction of the new Tangier port.

This contract includes MCSet4 cubicles, remote control and automated management units, Rectimat2 type LV power factor correction equipment and LV secondary switchboards in the Prisma+ line.

The «Tangier–Mediterranean» project is a strategic priority for the economic and social development of the North Morocco region. Positioned on the Straits of Gibraltar, it will include 5 operating zones: a container wharf, a cereal wharf, a Ro-Ro terminal*, a hydrocarbon wharf, and a logistics free zone.

The project as a whole requires total investment estimated at 1.1 billion euro. Tangier port should be operational in 2007.

          *RoRo-terminal: a terminal for roll-on roll-off ferries.
