Bernard Larrouturou joins Schneider Electric as Senior Vice-President in charge of Innovation
Bernard Larrouturou joins Schneider Electric to take the newly created function of Senior Vice-President, Innovation. He was previously holding the position of General Manager of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) until January 2006.
Within the team of Eric Pilaud, Executive Vice-President Strategy, Customers and Technology, his role will be threefold :
- Set up an ambitious innovation process within the group, allowing to speed up the emergence of innovative solutions for customers in the areas of energy efficiency, electrical distribution and industrial automation ;
- Significantly strengthen the ties between Schneider Electric and the worldwide scientific community in order to develop, widen and consolidate technological partnerships with scientific research at large ;
- Animate and supervise the Scientific and Technical Division of Schneider Electric which remains under the responsibility of Claude Ricaud, as well as the Schneider Electric Ventures investment funds headed by Jean-Marc Bally.
Professor in applied mathematics, then chairman of the department of applied mathematics at Ecole Polytechnique, Bernard Larrouturou then headed up INRIA, the French public research institute in applied mathematics and information technologies where he had started his career, before heading up CNRS. He is the author of several books in applied mathematics and greatly contributed to expanding the network of industrial and international relations of the research institutions he headed. He has received many prestigious awards and sits on the Board of Directors of several big industrial companies as well as high-tech start-up businesses.
