20 women, all of them students from two major French schools, INSA Lyon (National Institute of Applied Sciences - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées) and ENSTA (National School of Applied Technics - Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Appliquées) participated in the launch day of Schneider Electric’s new project “Let’s do something new, Choose your Path”.
Their hosts and sponsors: women and all managers from Schneider Electric.
This project reflects three major issues:
- For the students, the difficulty to express a detailed professional plan
- For the schools, the need to develop an educational tool to help students structure their choices
- For Schneider Electric, the necessity to build interest from students, and especially for its specific professions where there are not enough women.
Sharing knowledge and experience
Initiated by Schneider Electric and in partnership with Companieros (registered training body), “Chooose your Path” allows the 20 students – graduating at the end of the school year – to participate in a 3-month-training project, combining group working sessions and individual follow-up.
The objective is to help give these 20 young women the keys to succeed in professional life by means of discussion, sharing and real-life situations.
This initiative will be repeated for the next years to come and is integrated within Schneider Electric new² company program and its commitment to develop the people.
Moreover, “Choose your Path” reinforces the agreement signed by Schneider Electric in December 2004 on professional equity between men and women, as well as our desire to attract new talents and build our image.
