Schneider Electric Australia wins award for Melbourne citylink project
Schneider Electric in Australia received a "Highly Commended Award" in the Australia 1999 Engineering Excellence Awards for its role in the Melbourne CityLink roads infrastructure project.
Schneider Electric was selected for the award with Transfield, a major construction company and a Schneider Electric partner, because of their contribution in the design and construction of both tunnels' electrical services.
"Schneider Electric Australia played an enormous role in the project, producing more than 4,000 design drawings, 20 technical specifications, and 11 sets of cable management schedules," explains Stephen Hyams, Project Design Manager and Deputy Project Manager.
The scope of Schneider Electric's work included electrical system design and the supply of low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, capacitor banks and the plant monitoring and control system.
Melbourne CityLink is a massive and complex roads infrastructure project that is also the most extensive build, own, operate and transfer scheme that was ever developed in Australia. It involved the construction or renovation of 22 km of freeway, tolling stations and two new road tunnels.
