Acquisition of Quantronics, Inc, the US leader in sizing and weighing systems
Schneider Electric has acquired Quantronics, Inc., the US leader in sizing and weighing instruments for automated freight handling, parcel postage, material handling and warehousing systems. These instruments, known as cubing systems, use infrared and laser sensing technology.
The cubing systems market is worth some EUR 1 billion and is expected to grow by 20% to 25% in the next five years thanks to the development of e-business and online transactions. Cubing systems contain industrial automation devices that allow shipping companies to monitor and invoice millions of very lightweight packages.
Quantronics, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, has 33 employees and sales of EUR 9 million. Its main customers are express delivery firms, companies with warehousing, distribution, retailing or wholesaling operations, and supply chain management software integrators.
