Schneider Electric selected Supplier for electrical power, distribution and control equipment for American Home Products’ new manufacturing facility
As part of a broad global Strategic Alliance with American Home Products (AHP), Schneider Electric will be supplying all the electrical power, distribution and control equipment for the new Irish manufacturing facility of American Home Products’ subsidiary, Wyeth Medica, in Grange Castle near Dublin.
American Home Products is one of the world’s largest research-based pharmaceutical and health care products companies. It is a leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of medications, vaccines, biotechnology, agricultural products and animal health care. Schneider Electric has already supplied American Home Products with electrical power for its manufacturing facilities in the United States (Rouse Point, Pearl River and Rhode Island) and in Singapore.
The contract is worth EUR 8 million. The scope of the project for Schneider Electric is all electrical equipment on the site from incoming utility feed to final distribution for the individual process loads. This includes integrated power load shedding and quality systems. Schneider Electric will coordinate all electrical sourcing with Wyeth (AHP) and their designer in order to ensure consistency in componentry and communication protocols. Schneider Electric will also be responsible for identifying, quantifying and delivering real cost savings at the end of this project.
American Home Products selected Schneider Electric as the single source supplier on this project due to:

>Efficient open plant wide networking architecture based on Ethernet allowing for proactive implementation of operational optimization programs, as well as energy asset management that enable preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve plant availability and reliability, extend equipment life (protecting assets) and reduce catastrophic failure and nuisance downtime.
>The ability to support AHP in a consistently high level on a global basis.
This contract is part of the strategic alliance policy conducted by Schneider Electric over the last 5 years with its strategic global accounts. This has led to many different alliance projects in priority industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverage and microelectronics. To date, Schneider Electric has entered into relations of this type with 74 global groups.
