          Schneider Electric at Roland Garros

Through its electrical distribution and automation products, Schneider Electric will make sure that these facilities operate properly to ensure the safety and comfort of players and spectators alike.

From May 27 to June 9, 2002, the Roland Garros clay court will welcome the France Internationals tennis championship, one of the four major tennis events in the "grand slam". This year's event will see once again the international tennis elite in search of winning the highly coveted prize in the arena at the Porte d’Auteuil in Paris.
While players will only call in their own energy in the battle, the Roland Garros facilities will need electrical energy for their own operations: interior and exterior lighting, radio and TV control rooms, reception halls and conference rooms, press rooms, kitchens, restaurants, changing rooms, restrooms, etc.
Through its electrical distribution and automation products, Schneider Electric will make sure that these facilities operate properly to ensure the safety and comfort of players and spectators alike. Seven MV and LV substations have been geared for the protection and distribution of the various electrical networks, representing an 8,000 kVA installed power base, or the equivalent consumption of 500 "all electric" individual houses. Surveillance of all facilities is controlled by a central technical management system, combined with a Premium PLC, which receives power equipment status data (circuit-breaking, alarms, consumption, etc.) and relays the control orders to match appropriate power supply with demand.
