Firmware Design Engineer

Location: Shanghai

The SPD R&D group in Shanghai, China, is looking for a highly motivated firmware engineer to join a team responsible for the development, implementation, and validation for PLC systems.

The firmware development will be primarily focused on data center infrastructure cooling equipment which includes computer room air conditioners, air handler units, chillers, and ancillary equipment. The hardware platforms include standard industry PLC and special PLC for HVAC application and HMI.

Occasional travel (domestic & oversea) is required.  

The candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Excellent PLC programming language (IEC 61131-3) skills, especially structure text (ST) and function block diagram (FBD)
• Familiar with application of standard industry PLC (Schneider-electric Modicon or Carel are preferred)
• Familiar with application and development for field bus communication, such as Modbus RTU/Modbus TCP
• Knowledge in application and development for standard industry HMI/Display
• Ability to develop and write control / software specifications
• Ability of software function verification test
• Creative problem-solving skills and diagnostic abilities

Experience in the following areas would be a plus:

• Experience for HVAC products control logic development, such as unitary air conditioner, air handler units etc
• Web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular JS, Photoshop, Figma
• Programming skills on windows or Linux environment (GUI, Web App etc.)
• Experience in protocols of BACNet, SNMP/CAN
• Being familiar with Carel Hardware platform
• CAREL 1TOOL programming experience
• Working experience in precision cooling industry

• Engineering degree (Automation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in PLC development
• Good English verbal and written skills
